SMACK TALK 101

The pace can be fast and furious come kickoff time. Don’t be caught off guard. Familiarize yourself with these valuable Smack Talk pointers.
DON’T point directly at a Smack Talk opponent. That’s just plain rude.
DO periodically refer to yourself in the third person. This gives your remarks more weight.
DON’T reference your opponent’s mother. You’re above that.
DO look your opponents straight in the eye. Add a slight squint for emphasis.
DON’T repeat the same Smack Talk someone just said to you. Show your originality.
DO use clever analogies, similes and metaphors when provoking your opponents. This will cause them confusion.
DON’T berate placekickers or punters. Too easy.
DO invoke your opponent’s bench. Denouncing a rarely used special team or third-string player demonstrates your mastery of the game.
DON’T curse. Vulgarity is the crutch of the uncouth.
DO refrain from questioning gender preferences.
DON’T Smack Talk while your team is losing. You may induce Reverse Smack Karma.
We find Smack Talk so entertaining, we couldn’t resist coming up with a few barbs ourselves. Feel free to use them at your next gridiron get–together.
- Oh, so you’re a (TEAM NAME) fan? Please forgive me. I was under the impression we were discussing the pros.
- On the way over here, I heard about a police report. They’ve issued a missing persons alert for your offensive line.
- Hmm, that pass seemed to have hit your receiver in a bad place... his hands.
- Oh, I didn’t realize this was a bye week for your team. (Best used when your opponent’s team is playing that week.)
