Blog on the King

So listen ... before LeBron runs his version of a Jerry Lewis telethon tonight, I wanted to go on the record with a few thoughts. I really think he and his crew mean well. These dudes have been given a lot of responsibility at very young ages. They also have stacks of cash to make things happen. So they've decided to jack the four-letter network for a complete hour to raise money for the Boys & Girls Club of America ... and to pub The King prior to him deciding who will be blessed to pay him MILLIONS of dollars. To the crew and maybe The King himself this makes a lot of sense. They've brainstormed, ran this by marketing folks, agent-types and they've talked to focus groups that agree. They're simply seizing the moment and they're making the most of it. It's sad because “Team James” is starting to look like a bunch of spoiled brats that always wanted to see their best friend choose the hat on National Signing Day.

Until LeBron wins a title, with or without assistance, this decision to make the world watch him on national TV for one hour prior to picking his team will haunt him. Until LeBron hoists the Larry O’Brien Trophy up high in the air, he won't do anything right. What a great sight that would be -- to see the King win it all in front of all of his haters, and there's sure to be several. What if, just what if, LeBron walks away from the only city he's known and lived all of his life? Don't you think the city of Cleveland will be pissed that LeBron decided to make this huge spectacle out of his goodbye to them? Did LeBron not connect to the crowds at the "Q" like they connected to him when he was throwing the powder in the air prior to every home game? Does he plan on dancing off the podium tomorrow night after he says his new team’s name like he did to entertain the crowd prior to games? I've got so many questions I want answers to now, but I guess a few of them will be answered tonight. For the true LeBron fans in Cleveland -- New York City is only about 470 miles away. We'd love to have you at Madison Square Garden every home game!
Of course all of you know, the Knicks just happen to be my favorite team! :-)

Come on! These are not the top 3 players in basketball!. LeBron clearly is one of the top three but Wade and Bosh, while great players and all-stars, are not even top 5! Kobe, LeBron, Howard, Durant, and take your pick at a point guard in Williams, CP3, and Nash. So when Magic says he would not have called up Bird and Jordan to play together, well guess what- he didn't HAVE to! He played with two all stars in Worthy and Kareem!!! Bird didn't have to make the call either when you have McHale and Parish as all-stars as teammates. Heck, even DJ and Ainge both made all-star teams if I'm not mistaken. So let's stop tripping as if this kind of talent hasn't ever been assembled! Heck, look at the big 3 in Boston - again 3 all-stars but not 2 of the the top 5 plays in the league in that situation as well. I submit to you that this Miami team has three great players - all stars even, but they STILL don't have 2 of the top 5 players in the game. Those who think championships are going to come easy dismiss Orlando, Boston, Chicago, and yes - the Hawks who will match up very well against that Miami team in the Eastern Conference. So, win the East Magic and then we'll entertain other things...such as why Kobe, Bynum, Artest, Gasol aren't going to roll over and die anytime soon. By the way, Kobe is the true MVP and I love LeBron. No way Kobe isn't the MVP and personally, I don't care for him or the Lakers.

The King of Greater Cleveland gave his kingdom away. The King is dead.

Tell D.Wade to ask lebron to come clean if he did'nt quit and tell the fans what really happened between him and delonte during the playoffs. What happened in the locker room between Mo Williams and Lebron and why did Shaq get in your azzz. Come clean on the story to 2live Stews reported that involves your mom.The fans want to know what happen? You left town but a foul odor remains.

When companies combine to make a powerhouse the customer service goes out the window. Let's see how Miami treats the other players on the team and how other teams\players respond to Miami.

If LBJ ever questioned his decision, he knows now that he made the right one. The owner of the Cavs let him know exactly how he felt about him the whole time. LBJ was only good for him as long as he brought his franchise from $222 mil to $476 mil net worth. Also keep in mind that he took attendance from dead last to 2nd in the NBA. I figure Master Gilbert is really upset that his prize buck (slave) decided to leave his plantation, and not make master all the money he had become accustomed to.

A "King" is apart of another dude's kingdom? In the great words of Fabolous: Leaders don't be followin' crowds. Gone!

Ryan, with all due respect, this is the worst marketing decision since "New Coke." True champions lead their team to championships, not follow the competition with a "I cant beat'em so join'em mentality at age 25. Why purchase a LeBron branded sneaker? King? Really? He has the right to do whatever he feels is in his best interest, but he no longer embodies true leadership. With the best record in the league (Cleveland) for two years and not be able to get it done, he bailed! Generation Y - I have to have it now mentality. Micheal, Magic, Bird, Reggie M, none took the easy road. Some became champions, some became legends, but none left their city hanging after failure.

Ryan, I read that his boy Maverick Carter has x-out your Uncle Wes, and Aaron Goodwin, and can't get Jonny Flynn a used car lot deal! no way the Knicks get him. Right now, he's showing the I I I, me me me.

I'm w/ you Ryan. I'm not an LBJ guy but I truly respect his game. The dude is one of the best players in the league today. This is LBJ's "recruiting" time which we all know he did not get during HS w/ his jump to the NBA. But as you said, until he wins a chip, we'll all look back and say "yo remember when LBJ had that hour long press conference?" That's not something you'd want to have attached to your legacy....

Yo Ryan,If LeBron goes to the Heat, that's cool. We are always criticizing black folks of the "crab in the bucket syndrome" these guys are being unselfish and they are still criticized. This is no different from companies combining to make a power house. Tell me the difference
