Just watched Spain win its first World Cup -- what an ugly game. Between all the flopping and yellow cards and the stupid horns, I almost wished I was watching the WNBA ... on second thought, no ... it wasn't that bad.
So let me get this straight: the greatest basketball player of this generation has to relocate to another team and share the basketball with two other superstars to win a title? Yeah, that's just the way Michael Jordan would've done it ...
First, Cavs owner Dan Gilbert makes an ass out of himself while popping off about LeBron leaving. Then, more comments from the peanut gallery, this time from The Rev. Jesse Jackson, who says Gilbert thinks of James as a runaway slave. Hey, it's the first ink he's gotten in any newspaper since he took shots at Obama back in 2008. What is Jesse's job again? Oh yeah, I remember, to be irrelevant.
I love those Danica Patrick promos on ESPN. "Some people say I'm just a marketing ploy, some people say I'm just a pretty face." Uh ... that would be a yes and yes. A career best 24th-place finish at Chicago Friday night ... only two laps down. I still say she won't finish on the lead lap all season.
Speaking of pretty faces. I guess the honchos at ESPN liked what they saw on Dancing with the Stars. Erin Andrews gets her own show? Have they ever seen her do sidelines? She makes Jill Arrington sound like Barbara Walters.
I just did the math, and for the Hawks to break even on Joe Johnson's max contract, they will need everyone of their paying customers to spend just about $100.00 on hotdogs, beers and t-shirts per game. That's provided they average 5,000 people a night.
Who in their right mind would spend a $5 to see the latest M. Night Shamalama-ding-dong movie. The Last Airbender? It sounds like what goes on in my pants after eating a spicy burrito.
A few things worth your while. The new Ozzy Osbourne CD is a blast. Longtime guitarist Zakk Wylde is replaced by Gus G and it is hard with some fresh new riffs. The new Scorpions is decent, but personally I thought there were too many slower tracks. Still looking forward to seeing the farewell tour this week at Verizon Amphitheatre in Alpharetta.
How do you know it's the slowest time of the year in sports? When I see a five minute behind-the-scenes feature of WNBA star Diana Taurasi on Sportscenter. For the record -- I still think that's Bobby Hurley in drag!

Few comments...first, I'm a black guy so I'm allowed to say this...see, after being hit so many times in the head during the 60's Jesse makes mental blunders from time to time...those who hate him most created this monster...should have used a softer wood rather than hickory on those night sticks. Happy now? LOL!
Since you are randomly throwing out things, I'll do the same...funny that there are guys who don't even like women hosting a TV Modeling show dressing women up as witches because in their heart of hearts, that's how they view them! Hmmm..why are GAY guys telling us what beautiful women look like? Oh yeah....disclaimer...not there there is anything WRONG with being gay...What's next? I guess Joe Johnson is going to tell us how to get in the ZONE during a meaningful playoff game...
