‘Holy Brackets'

‘Whoop….There it was’, like death and taxes, the inevitable act of one team taking
another for granted, loomed its ugly head. Miami and Marquette enacted a show
and tell on how, in only ten minutes, March Madness can turn to March sadness..
That’s how quickly it took for the ‘Canes to realize they had just wandered into a
swamp of intensity, armed with nothing more than jocks and socks…

If ‘You Tube’ had a site available only to coaches, the video of last night’s game
would be the most downloaded replay in the history of ‘Coaching 101’…

Every coach in the country wants to show that game to his team because it made
tangible, the intangibles of intensity, that are difficult to explain and even more
impossible to demonstrate on the practice court…

You would think that the street tough, Jim Larranaga, would be more distraught
over the way his team approached Marquette? The reason he’s not is because his
team had no legacy…What’s he gonna tell ‘em in pregame…”Ahh, men…Rick Barry
once played here and then we dropped basketball for 30 years”? So, this stroll
through Coconut Grove, that his Miami players took, becomes a concrete block.
Now, Larranaga has something to build from..

Meanwhile, In the Marquette locker room, Buzz Williams had the spirit of Al
McGuire to recapture, as well as, all the previous Warrior hardwood greats to
draw from…

And why do I seem particularly peeved…? Well, I had Louisville and Miami in the
championship game…OH, HOLY BRACKETS…!!!
