‘SCHLANTA’

‘SCHLANTA’

Pairings are set, brackets are printed, and by now many of you have filled them
out, and already know, at least in our own little, individual, world, whom the
eventual National Champion of College Basketball will be.

Today, with my head hungover from incessant renditions of ‘Irish Eyes are
Smiling’ , I lift my glass of remedy to you prognosticators, and say….. “Schlanta”,
which is the Gaelic salute for ‘cheers’, or ‘good luck’, or ‘may the good Lord guide
your pencil’, cause we’re all gonna need divine intervention to navigate these
regions leading home to Atlanta…

This morning, my neighbor yelled one word to me from his driveway, “Louisville”!
Then I pick up the fishwrapper, and their self-proclaimed basketballtician wrote,
“Louisville”…So, right away my sonar tells me, Louisville’s got no shot…!

Guess what..? It is…IT IS, going to be Rick Pitino’s bunch o’ defensive thieves who
cop the national title…!

I go through it, line by line, bracket by bracket, and check the residue of what the
matchups churn out on that last line, right smack dab in the middle of the page,
and it said, Louisville…

This is going to be compelling, if you don’t need that one dominant team to set
the tournament curve…There are nine teams in the tourney, capable of winning it
all, and fifteen more teams that can beat that first nine, on any given night…

SCHLANTA, Y’ALL….!
