FALCONS ACTIVATE LB SEAN WEATHERSPOON AND SIGN T SEAN LOCKLEAR
Flowery Branch, GA – The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have activated linebacker Sean Weatherspoon from injured reserve-designated for return and signed tackle Sean Locklear.
Weatherspoon, 6-2, 244 pounds, was selected by the Falcons in the first round (19th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft. He was placed on injured reserve-designated for return on September 17, 2013 after totaling 13 tackles (10 solo) in Atlanta’s first two games. The fourth-year pro out of Missouri has recorded 306 tackles (218 solo) with eight sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, one interception, and 13 passes defensed in his career.
Locklear, 6-4, 310 pounds, was originally selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round (84th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft. He has played in 117 career games with 92 starts, including 16 starts at tackle during the Seahawks run to Super Bowl XL during the 2005 season. Locklear spent seven seasons in Seattle before joining the Washington Redskins in 2011. He played in 12 games with 10 starts for the New York Giants in 2012. The 10-year veteran played four seasons at North Carolina State, beginning his career on the defensive line and later earning first team All-ACC honors after switching to offensive tackle.
