Growing up, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, Doug Stewart never dreamed of being a sports radio host. But, that’s precisely what has happened. Doug and his brother, Ryan Stewart followed the advice of friends one day and called up 790 The Zone to get some air-time to talk sports, and as their fans, affectionately known and the “dogs and poodles” will tell you, the rest is history.
The 2 Live Stews debuted on Sports Radio 790 The Zone in 2001 and have watched their following grow from Atlanta to nationwide. The 2 Live Stews were nationally syndicated in 2006 and can be heard in approximately 24 markets across the country. The popularity of the show, which is best described as “from the basement style sports talk”, has gained such popularity that Doug been asked to appear several times with his co-host/brother Ryan Stewart on ESPN2’s Cold Pizza. In addition, the 2 Live Stews were named “Air Talent of the Year by ESPN in 2005.
While his brother, Ryan was typically thought of as the wild and crazy bachelor, could Doug have been more like his brother in his younger days? When asked about his favorite sports memory, Doug simply states, “Homecoming night, High School 1987.”
