Jessie Jackson ... c'mon son!

Wow! I love Jessie Jackson and everything he's done for civil rights but he's wrong on this one. Jessie said Dan Gilbert had a "Slave Master" mentality with his letter on LeBron. Sorry, but if LeBron was a white dude named Chip and had embarrassed his team, city, state and fans on National TV... with how the Cavs bent over backwards to appease him for seven years, Gilbert would've done same thing.

What say you?

2 Stews, Same attitude in Washington "Redskins" (don't like that name - racist) when dealing with Albert Haynesworth, that's why they don't care if he dies (300 yds. - Come on Son) & Skip Bayless is a low key racist when dealing with my people. T.O. hater, come on son, Big Ben Raping girls ain't news I never heard Skip down Big Ben for that "Off The Field character issues"? But let it be Mike V, or Pac Man, or Antonio Byrant, he hollering "off the field issues" oh I hate T.O. cuz he has a "Big Mouth". They hate Mayweather & Ali too. But it's ok to give Big Ben a pass, & prosecute Mike Vick for something that's been around longer than alot of sports these days. It's ok to murder animals for a taxidermi but Vick is a monster. See if ya'll ain't see that, I guess ya'll saving your jobs, but we must have save our image & not let these people destroy us unfairly! HAHAHA we need to wake up people! Jesse Jackson is correct, I know the horrors he went thru growing up! "Katrina" remember how the States viewed us - "Refugees" not "citizens"!!!!!!!

Doug, I'm shocked an elder bruvah like yourself don't overstand the owner / slave mentality. This is still the slave nation, cheap labor & high prices! Remember a good slave is one who thinks he free. Contracts were the death to native americans. Mind you auction block is the same thing as a draft pick, happy to get the best conditions bruvah in line! Plus the slave or player doesn't select where to go (freedom) he must go where he was picked, use to whip the slave now they whoop the image thru the media same as chris paul!

JESSE DOES ANYTHING HE CAN TO MAKE HIMSELF REVELANT THESE DAYS. LEBRON GOT PAID WAY MORE THAN ALL THE SLAVES IF JESSE IS RIGHT. @THE TRUTH. ACTIVE PLAYERS CANNOT HAVE ANY TYPE OF OWNERSHIPL

NOT SO FAST TO GIVE GILBERT A PASS DOUG. CAV's WERE CLUELESS FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. LEBRON IS A FRANCHISE PLAYER, NOT A 'DEMOGRAPHIC EXECEPTION'! MOST FREE AGENTS ARE VALUABLE WHERE THEY ARE, NOT ON THE FREE MARKET. HENCE THE DEMOGRAPHICS CARD! YOU CAN NOT WIN IT ALONE, AND YOU CAN NOT WIN IT IF YOU ARE THE 'CRUNCH TIME LIABILITY'. IF GILBERT's COMMENTS WERE DIRECTED TO A LIABILITY TYPE I COULD GIVE HIM A PASS. FOR SEVEN YEARS LEBRON NEVER HAD THAT PLAYER TO CARRY SOME OF THE LOAD WHEN HE WAS NOT 100%, OR BENCH LEADERSHIP IN CRUCIAL SITUATIONS. CONFUSED STARES FROM THE SIDELINES DO NOT GET IT WHEN YOUR OPPONENT IS ON 17 TO 2 RUN.

I wouldn't go as far as the Slave Owner mentality, but Gilbert certainly spoke as if he owed the player rather then the player working for him. I think he thought LB owed him and the city something. What? I have no ideal. I didn't like the whole showcase that went with the decision on LB's part but he raised nearly six million for the B&G Club. I don't here much about that. Good Luck to them...Go Hawks! DaBulls!

I agree Doug and I agree with Whitlock. If you're going to show outrage towards Gilbert in terms of his views on Lebron's departure, brothas need to get at Lebron for leaving another brother...his coach (Mike Brown) out to dry by quiting. At the end of the day, Lebron is in S. Beach and Brown is without a job. And everybody and their mama knew that if the Cavs didn't show, Brown was out the door.

word on the street is that lequiter(lebron)intentionally quit on the team during the Boston series so he could excute his plan to leave town and the leaque should investigate him for throwing the games. The mess that jumped off with his mom and delonte only accelerated the process. Jesse is on the outside looking in like the rest of the country. It aint about free agency. It about setting up a city its team and owner and throwing Playoff games.

If Dan wanted LB to stay and wanted him to be truely a PART of the team, he should have offerred him a stake in the team. I thought I heard a tumble weed go by....See, LB was an employee and fulfilled his obligation. Both parties had the right to say and handle the situation like they each did. If Dan Gilbert calls each player before they are cut or traded, then LB was acted in a very abnormal way based on how the team treats its players. Somehow I doubt they do that but no one cares when that late 2nd rounder is cut... LB acted in his best interest as he saw it...just like Dan acts in his best interest when he cuts and trades players...again, if Dan Gilbert wanted to make LB's interests a bit more tighly coupled to the Cavs he should have done so with an ownership stake. Regarding Jesse - somebody needs to tell him to check out Mel Gibson and leave LB alone. Great show fellas! GE NUPE9 from the ATL! (Make me triple platinum fellas!!!)

Dan Gilbert is not the slave owner. He has been fair in his hiring of coaches. On the other hand, how many ex players has Pat Riley had on his bench. A token Bob McAdoo. The reason I said toke is because he is not included in the draft. He was asked what goes on in the war room and he said he didn't know because he wasn't included. Alonzo Morning is in the front office with a PR job. Pat Riley is a rich man because of ex players. I'm sure its a subject no one want to discuss on air.

I agree Doug... Jesse is trippin on this one...I am curious of Dan's motives though, at first I thought Dan Gilbert was just sticking up for the people of Cleveland... But the more I think about it, I'm wondering how long it will take for him to screw Cleveland too... lets face it, he's not one of us (I'm from Ohio.).. As a matter of fact, he is from Detroit, MI and has only been the owner for 5 years... He was only there because Lebron could make his pockets fatter... He has no vested interest in Cleveland.... So, I'm curious; once it gets bad, because I have a feeling that it will get really bad, how long will he stick around when the Cavs are no longer winning?...1 year...2?... I'm willing to bet he will pull a Bobby Petrino... only interested in the team because of the star and once that star is gone, so is he... Bobby didnt stick around when the going got tough with the Falcons, and I don't think Gilbert will either... He'll probably sell to the highest bidder and count his losses... Him and Usher...smh.

Sorry there's a mistake, in previous post I meant to say, "I do think there is a sense of ownership by Gilbert which is just as wrong."

Check out what sports writer Jason Whitlock had to say about Jesse comments on this Gilbert LeBron situation(http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/Jesse-Jackson-LeBron-James-Dan-Gilbert-slavery-comparison-071210) This is an copy of the email I sent Jason Whitlock disagreeing with him (I have to disagree with you Jason. I don't think what LeBron did was classless. This was his decision and let’s not forget he did honor and respected his contract. We have to remember this is not a ownership relationship its a business relationship and if you look at it from this point of view you then realize LeBron did nothing wrong. He just decided to do business else where and you can't be mad at him for that. I think Gilbert forgot this was a business relationship not a ownership relationship and Gilbert feels like LeBron owes him. I can see why Jesse Jackson compared it to a Slave master mentality. I personality don't think its a race issue but I don't think there is a sense of ownership by Gilbert which is just as wrong. In any business relationship there is an exchange of money for goods or services, LeBron's goods or services was playing basketball for the Cleveland Cavs until his contract ended. The Cleveland Cavs paid him and LeBron gave them his services, either party owes anything to the other party so now they have a right to continue business or go there separate ways. This is exactly what happens in the business world everyday) If you guys get a chance to read this, let me know what you think

Totally agree. Jessie plays the race card a bit too often. While Gilbert's comments were too harsh in my opinion, they were not racially motivated. More about the prima donna that just decimated his team by leaving. I do wonder if all his boys got jobs with the Heat?
