Tech is loaded
Posted 2/1/2010 12:00:00 PM
Okay, we are a few months into the Tech hoops season and one thing is clear, this team is totally legit or at least needs to be come tourney time. Do I expect a run at the ACC tournament title and a chance to go to the Final Eight, absolutely I do. Paul Hewitt has done a superb job getting big time talent here this season in order to make up for the sins of his past. Derrick Favors saying yes to the Jackets, Gani Lawal saying no to the NBA and D'Andre Bell saying I am healthy are all ideal things that happened in the off-season to help put Tech in the position they are in today.
The Jackets can play big with Favors, Lawal and Peacock. They can go athletic with Bell, Shumpert and freshman Mfon Udofia, they can shoot lights out with the best of them ...
Steak Tips: Bayou Miracle

It is amazing the personality an NFL season takes on, but a few things I guarantee you that we were not focusing on in August was the Saints and Colts as number one seeds in their respective conferences and both going to the Super Bowl. Petyon lighting things up again is not a major shock but when you see the names catching those balls, Collie and Garcon, that is why number 18 is in the conversation as greatest of all time. As for the Saints, while the offense we knew would sizzle and Greg Williams seemed like he would be an upgrade as defensive coordinator, with all the pre-season talk of the Eagles, Cardinals, Cowboys, Giants, Falcons, Packers and yes the Bears, (Sports Illustrated said Super Bowl) who saw the Saints having this kind of run. This is why all those previews we do in August are meaningless. The season ...

Have to have burgers and monsoons at Port of Call and put money in the juke box, my favorite spot in the city. Nola is a great spot for dinner for a more casual Emeril Lagasse place. Love Mr. B's Bistro for lunch, Irene's is the best Italian in the city and old school New Orleans. Hit up Frenchman Street I think for live music or some of the great bands believe it or not on Bourbon Street. Old Opera House great for live music.
WHERE DOES HE GO......the fascinating ongoing tale of Mike Vick
Posted 6/1/2009 8:00:00 PM
Few sports stories will resonate more in the next few months more then that of Michael Vick's future. The pro bowl quarterback, fresh out of prison and on the verge of being reinstated by Roger Goodell, is providing some of the most interesting conversations in recent NFL history about, if nothing else, who is it that is going to bring him in the fold. Can Vick contribute to a team, of course, can he play quarterback, one would think, is he worth the publicity, many owners may not think so. The reality on Vick is that while he was the league's most electrifying player at one point, at close to thirty and with two years away from the game, he will be nowhere close to that. Vick will need an offense that will not expect him to put him on his back and may have to get use to the idea ...
Time to Turn to Tommy

He is 23 years old and can flat out bring it. He has been one of the hottest prospects in the minors and dominated in spring training. He has the body and the mindset of a seasoned major league veteran. He is Tommy Hanson and he should be spending his days and nights in the bigs, not in the brand new gorgeous park in Gwinnett.
The Braves are hovering around mediocrity again this year with an ordinary lineup and a dreadful bullpen. Tommy Hanson is nothing close to ordinary, he has all the tools to become a sensation with a major league lineup playing behind him yet is laboring down in the minors while Tommy Glavine contemplates retirement and Jo Jo Reyes gets more big league starts. This makes no sense.
The Braves need a spark, the Braves need a story, the Braves need Tommy Hanson. I think we all ...
